Michelle Betos

Team: Gotham FC

Position: Goalkeeper

Michelle is a veteran goalkeeper and singular NWSL talent, with high standards and a focus on playing for a community. After more than a decade-long career that has spanned multiple leagues both overseas and domestic, Michelle finally will get the opportunity to play in front of a crowd much closer to home playing for Gotham FC.

She’s played for Racing Louisville, Seattle Reign, Portland Thorns, and overseas in Norway and Australia. She was named 2015 goalkeeper of the year, and helped the Portland Thorns win the 2016 NWSL Shield; she scored an equalizer in the 95th minute against then FC Kansas City, becoming the first goalkeeper to record a goal in NWSL history! She’s driven as a competitor and community-builder.

Michelle's details:

She has a degree in sports psychology, and is unafraid to dive into the mental, spiritual and “woo woo” aspects of the game.

She depends on: Protein bars. Compression gear. Recovery hacks.

She’s obsessed with: Nutrition, and optimizing performance (maniacally so.)

She believes in: Leaving no stone unturned. Giving way more than taking. Helping others achieve greatness. Going after big dreams in order to become “who you are supposed to be.”

“Anything is ****ing possible as long as you put in the time, the work, and the right energy.”
